The Road to Fantasy Glory

August 1, 2017 | FP News

The road to Fantasy glory is paved in gold, $1,600 worth of gold in fact! The Queen’s Cup may have been all about Adolfo Cambiaso and his RH team and the Gold Cup focussed on Facundo Pieres and his King Power Foxes team, but we at Fantasy Polo have our own champion to celebrate. Triple Crown winner Euan Douglas and his Wrung Direction team!!!

For those of you avidly watching the Fantasy leaderboards between each match to see how well you’ve done compared to the other thousands of players around the world, you can not have missed a familiar team name up there in the leaderboard top 5 time and time again. Wrung Direction won our first ever Fantasy Polo competition the Argentine Open in 2016, pocketing a cool $1000 for his efforts. A little break over the US season saw him return in force for the UK season to win both the Queen’s Cup competition and the Gold Cup!!

We followed his journey through the Gold Cup to check out his road to glory:

He initiated himself early as a contender with a strong line up from the off, reaching 46th position after the first matches. This might seem modest but his strategy obviously worked as he flew up to the number 1 position after the next round of matches. He dropped in the rankings a little after the third round of games to 6th. However, it wasn’t long before he was up in prime position once again where a battle with La Ivanita for 1st and 2nd proceeded throughout the following weeks until after the semis he was back on top winning 107 points in just one day. He was able to hold this position throughout the final, no one able to catch such an impressive 109 point lead.
